Recreation Week 3rd - 9th July 2016

 

The aim of National Recreation Week is to highlight the importance of recreation for young people. 

Events are aimed at young people between the ages of 12 and 18 years.

Join us for a Creative Writing Workshop facilitated by Poet and Author Gerry Boland.
Gerry will draw on some of the people and events of the Easter Rising to prompt writing ideas.
What may seem like a serious event becomes a fun way to guide young wrIters to create their own original and fascinating stories and poems.

Wednesday 6th July
2pm - 3.30pm
4pm - 5.30pm

The C.R.I.B. Youth Project

Drop-In for 12 - 14 year olds at 2pm - 3.30pm and for 15 - 18 year olds at 4pm - 5.30pm
Drop-In at the C.R.I.B. Step back in time and play the games and activities that young people played in 1916.
Activities will include: football/penalty shoot outs, marbles, card games, obstacle race, hula hoops, hop-scotch, eats and treats!

Meeting Point at The C.R.I.B. Youth Project

Hike of Benbulben with Northwest Adventure Tours. Our hike will commence in Drumcliffe at the site of W.B. Yeats' grave. Transport to starting point will be provided. Yeats wrote the poem Easter 1916 to commemorate the Easter Rising of April 24th, 1916. Drumcliffe is set against the striking backdrop of the Benbulben Mountains. From here we will begin our ascent of Benbulben. (For ages 12 - 18)

Strandhill Beach

Meeting at Isurfireland Surf School, Strandhill Beach car park

Teenagers Surfing Taster Session. FREE surf lesson with qualified instructors. All equipment provided. (For ages 12 - 18)
